Protecting India's Sacred Cows Since 1995
A sanctuary of love, faith, and service - rooted in the ancient tradition of Gau Seva.

Gau Seva Paramo Dharma
Founded in 1995 under the guidance of ISKCON Bhopal, our Gaushala began as a humble shelter for three abandoned cows. Today, we care for over 150 cows and calves, representing some of India's most sacred indigenous breeds - including Gir, Sahiwal, and Tharparkar.
Our mission is not merely to shelter cows - it is to revive the ancient culture of Gau Seva, reminding every Indian of the sacred bond between humanity and the cow. We believe that when we protect the cow, we protect our dharma, our soil, and our civilization.
Why We Protect Cows
In Sanātana Dharma, the cow is not just an animal - she is Gomata, our divine mother.
Scriptural Basis
The Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam place the cow alongside the brahminical class as symbols to be protected. Krishna himself was a cowherd - Govinda, friend of the cows.
Environmental Benefit
Cow dung provides natural fertilizer and biogas. Cow urine has medicinal properties. Indigenous cows sustain the ecological cycle when cared for traditionally.
Compassion in Action
Gau Seva is a living expression of ahimsa - non-violence. To care for a vulnerable, gentle creature is to ennoble the human soul and earn divine blessings.
Cultural Preservation
Indigenous Indian cow breeds like Gir and Sahiwal are nearly endangered. Our Gaushala actively breeds and preserves these sacred lineages for future generations.
